Giving Day contributions of every size make a major difference! Support the Humanities Center today!
- Ready! Set! Give! On Giving Day, once 15 donors make a gift to Humanities Center, a $1,500 gift from the Humanities Center Advisory Board will be unlocked!
Founded in 1993, the Humanities Center provides an intellectual home for Wayne State faculty, students, and staff working in the humanities, the arts, and the humanistic social sciences. Through its fellowships and events, the center encourages multidisciplinary conversations and collaborations while also supporting cutting-edge research in the humanities and adjacent disciplines. As an incubator of humanistic thought at Wayne State, the Humanities Center works to create interdisciplinary community and to showcase the vitality of the humanities on campus.
- Gifts supporting the Humanities Center annual fund help support the Humanities@Work program. Humanities@Work offers paid summer internships for graduate and upper-level undergraduate students in the humanities, arts, and social sciences fields. Offering positions with nonprofits and community entities across the metro Detroit region, the Humanities@Work program puts the humanities to work in Detroit. The program primarily serves nonprofit organizations in metropolitan Detroit using a mixture of funding sources. One paid internship currently costs the Humanities Center $2,500, including direct wages to the student and employer-incurred costs for the paid employee. Your contribution helps ensure this valuable program can continue!
