THE WARRIOR CHALLENGE

This Giving Day, you have an opportunity to do something truly special for Wayne State Men’s Basketball. Help send the team to the Puerto Rico Clásico 2026 in San Juan this December.

This isn’t just a trip; it’s a transformational experience. Competing internationally allows our student-athletes to grow, represent Wayne State on a global stage, and gain life experiences that extend far beyond the game. Your support helps make that possible, while also continuing to provide the resources needed for success throughout the year-travel, training, nutrition, and a complete student-athlete experience. This is about more than basketball. It’s about preparing young men to lead, adapt, and compete no matter where life takes them.

When the final buzzer sounds, the journey continues and your support helps them take that next step, both on and off the court.

But their commitment goes far beyond competition. Wayne State student-athletes balance rigorous academic schedules while actively serving the Detroit community through outreach and service initiatives. Their ability to excel in the classroom, give back to the community, and compete at a high level reflects the discipline, resilience, and pride that define the Warrior spirit. Today, these Warriors face a new challenge, the Warrior Challenge, Wayne State Athletics' department-wide Giving Day campaign.

The Warrior Challenge is a fundraising competition where each athletic program rallies support for its student-athletes. Rather than competing in their sport, teams will compete to generate support that enhances the student-athlete experience, including travel, equipment, nutrition, recruiting, and program development. This year’s campaign is especially meaningful as Wayne State prepares to welcome Women’s Soccer as its newest varsity program beginning in Fall 2026, expanding opportunities for future Warriors.

The Goal

Our collective goal is to raise $100,000 to support Wayne State Athletics and provide resources that help our student-athletes succeed academically, athletically, and personally.

To add to the excitement, programs that lead in the following categories will each receive an additional $2,000 toward their operational budgets:
