Chemical Engineering Undergraduate Laboratory Upgrade

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science proposes the purchase of a replacement Reaction Kinetics Unit for deployment in the undergraduate Chemical Engineering Unit Operations Laboratory course (CHE3820) to meet educational objectives related to characterization of chemically reacting systems that are central to multiple courses in the Chemical Engineering Undergraduate curriculum.

College of Engineering K-12 Academy

Engineers play a pivotal role in revitalizing and sustaining their communities through research and innovation. James and Patricia Anderson College of Engineering students lead in their community by introducing local children to career opportunities in science and technology fields. They are involved in a variety of K-12 programs such as the Detroit-Area Pre-College Engineering Program and the Department of Computer Science's summer camps.

The College's Educational Outreach and Community Engagement Office facilitates collaboration with the college's community and partners, including K-12 schools, other universities, nonprofit organizations, government entities and businesses. The office achieves its goals through curricular engagement, community engagement and K-12 outreach efforts. Partnerships with business leaders in the Wayne State community allow the college to close the gap between academics and industry, leading to improved learning outcomes, maximum value of research, stronger commercial impact, and a greater number of top-level.

Engineering Dean's Scholarship

Scholarships empower our students to focus on what's most important: the future. Most of our undergraduate scholarships are targeted at students who have completed at least one term as an engineering student and demonstrate a combination of academic achievement, leadership and financial need, although financial need is not required for all college scholarships.

Join the community of alumni and other donors who support students with scholarships!

Engineering Student Success Fund (Helios Fund)

The Helios Fund supports five high impact practices that strengthen student experiences and success:

  • Global perspective โ€“ students learn to be global citizens, able to navigate diverse cultures and global economies.
  • Undergraduate research projects โ€“ students tackle multidisciplinary and translational research, learning principles and theories in the digital classroom and applying that knowledge in the laboratory.
  • Experiential learning opportunities โ€“ students have access to internships at small companies and industry leaders.
  • Hands-on experiences โ€“ students apply lessons learned in the classroom to team-based initiatives. They research, incorporate design fundamentals, test and retest solutions and learn how to succeed.

This Giving Day, make a gift to the Helios Fund to support the success of engineering students!

Warrior Racing

  • Double your dollars! Autoliv will match gifts to the Warrior Racing Fund โ€“ up to $5,000!

Warrior Racing is a team of undergraduate engineers designing, building, and competing with an open wheel style race car. The car will compete at various competitions around the US including Pittsburgh, Oakland University, and the famed Michigan International Speedway against 120 other collegiate teams ranging from Singapore to California. The program provides students with hands-on experience of design, simulation, fabrication, communication, and project management. Many of our engineers will have internships within their first year of college, working at firms like Bosch, Cummins, BAE Systems, American Axle Manufacturing, and more, proving that the experience within Warrior Racing translates into real world skills.
