The Center for Emerging and Infectious Diseases (CEID)
In Detroit's most vulnerable communities, the Center for Emerging and Infectious Diseases (CEID) at Wayne State University is pioneering a new approach to health equity through two transformative programs:
- The Detroit Health Ministries Program trains trusted faith leaders to become certified Health Ministers, bringing preventive services and education directly to their congregations. By leveraging existing community trust, this program is projected to reduce preventable hospitalizations by 25% in participating communities.
- The Vaccine Ambassadors Program recruits and trains community members to build vaccine confidence, combat misinformation, and improve access to immunizations. This community-driven approach aims to increase childhood vaccination rates by 15% within three years.
Your gift on Giving Day will make a direct impact on community health in Detroit! Every contribution helps us build healthier neighborhoods through trusted community leaders.
Achieve your charitable goals and create your WSU legacy with a gift in your estate plan.
