Center for Peace and Conflict Studies Annual Fund
The Center for Peace and Conflict Studies seeks to discover and create conditions conducive to lasting peace โ one that celebrates human freedom and can endure, even in difficult times. Our students grew up in an era of school shootings and violent extremism; the United States is engaged in multiple conflict areas, and the risk of nuclear war remains.
The Center for Peace and Conflict Studies confronts these issues head-on, by advancing education and research on the roots of human violence, methods of conflict resolution, and the hope of breaking cycles of violence that continue to be passed down from one generation to the next.
A gift to the annual fund will support urgent initiatives such as gun violence prevention and the de-escalation of war, with the aim to identify solutions that Americans can agree on. Our faculty and students have been examining the social and cultural influences that affect support for the escalation of war, as well as what leads people to have faith in a peace process. These issues can shape U.S. engagement in the Ukraine-Russia war and the Israel-Hamas war, as well as future conflicts on the horizon.
