Giving Day contributions of every size make a major difference! Support one of these projects today and make a difference in the cutting-edge research in human health and development.
We are proud of the accomplishments of our faculty and students as we review the history and highlights of the Mott Center since it opened in 1973. These efforts have led to excellence in research, clinical training and education for the Wayne State University School of Medicine. This year continues to bring enormous opportunity for continued research success, collaboration and increased educational and training programs. The Mott Center has experienced tremendous growth in federal research funding in the past three years, which has positioned us to expand our overall mission and vision. The center is thriving in its mission of applying translational research and providing resources to our diverse community through service, clinical trials, awareness, and engagement. We are excited about sharing the success and future plans of the Mott Center that is attainable because of the generosity of our donors.
C.S. Mott Center Annual Fund
The C.S. Mott Center Annual Fund supports our vision to promote a personalized approach in basic, translational and clinical research that will improve health outcomes for women and children in our unique urban environment. Your donation provides the flexibility to fund our areas of greatest need, to embrace opportunities as they arise and support our mission to actively contribute to the community as the leading translational center for reproductive health.
Infections in Pregnancy
Funding in this area enables our researchers to better understand the impact of both viral and bacterial infections on the maternal immune system. This is essential for the appropriate management of womenโs health throughout pregnancy. Infections can be a major challenge, as they first affect the well-being of mothers and later lead to many developmental concerns for their newborn child. Developing approaches to manage infections in pregnancy will ensure a better outcome for both the mother and child.
Male and Female Infertility
The Mott Center focuses on fertility research in both females and males. Funding in this area allows our researchers to focus on the health of both partners prior to conception leading to reproductive success. We embrace the uniqueness of our local community and urban environment by providing an integrative โomicsโ approach to research -- a rapidly evolving, multidisciplinary, and emerging field that encompasses genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics.
