About

Giving Day contributions of every size make a major difference! In honor of Junior Year in Munich's 70th anniversary, we are asking you to support us with a gift of $70, $700, or $7,000 on Giving Day.

70 Years of Immersion with the Junior Year in Munich (JYM)

Sponsored by Wayne State University in formal affiliation with the prestigious Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) of Munich, the Junior Year in Munich is the oldest U.S.-based study abroad program in Germany, and this year we turn 70!

Since the first class of 12 JYM students arrived in the fall of 1953, more than 4,300 students from over 500 colleges and universities have studied at LMU with JYM. Founded in the aftermath of World War II, the program has survived the Cold War and endured even as the COVID-19 pandemic complicated trans-Atlantic travel.

Through everything, JYM has empowered generations of students to become better citizens, thinkers and leaders, and through their generous donations, each generation of alumni has supported the next. In honor of our 70th anniversary, we are asking you to support us with a gift of $70, $700, or $7,000.

We encourage you to contribute our newest support fund, the Horst and Ingrid Daemmrich Fund for JYM Student Research and Internships, established this year to provide support to students conducting undergraduate research or working in unpaid internship positions while they participate in the JYM program. Or make a donation to the Junior Year in Munich Scholarship Fund to help students who need general scholarship assistance.
