Giving Day contributions of every size make a major difference! Support one of these projects today or give to another area that helps support diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives across campus.

Today only, once 21 gifts are made to any Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative listed on this page, a gift of $2,100 from the WSU Development and Alumni Affairs DEI Committee, will be unlocked!

Wayne State has a long history of opening our doors and expanding our commitment to equity. We have passionate faculty and staff working to create new and innovative approaches to raise awareness, engage learners and change behaviors around diversity and inclusion that are truly remarkable. The time for change is now, and our university will continue to be part of that change and support others who stand for social justice. Please give today to strengthen a specific university priority to promote equity and inclusion.

Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Your gift will impact the most pressing needs that create and sustain a diverse, inclusive and welcoming campus for students, faculty and staff. The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion oversees a multitude of workshops, learning communities and programs focused on dialogue that value and celebrate diversity in a learning and living environment.

Office of Multicultural Student Engagement

The Office of Multicultural Student Engagement (OMSE) strives to cultivate a safe campus environment where we value, promote, and celebrate the identities of all students. Your gift will help OMSE work to positively address and impact the retention and graduation rates of underrepresented students through initiatives that focus on important issues related to diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice.

Citizenship for Health Program Fund

Your gift will help empower people to reduce health disparities in their communities. In Detroit and across the country, racial and ethnic minorities are disproportionately impacted by poor health outcomes and early mortality. The Citizenship for Health Program offers resources and service programs in collaboration with the Center for the Study of Citizenship, the School of Social Work, Wayne State's Integrative Biosciences Initiative, and Focus: HOPE's Urban Learning and Leadership Collaborative (ULLC).

Detroit Equity Action Lab Fund

Your gift will fund an innovative hub of community-driven research, programming and media, working to dismantle structural racism in Detroit. The Detroit Equity Action Lab (DEAL) raises the profile of racial justice issues and connects community experts to build collective power. DEAL is an initiative of the Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights at Wayne Law.

The Michael P. LaGatella Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Endowed Scholarship

Your gift will celebrate and support our LGBTQIA+ Warrior communities and provide financial support to our diverse queer student body. This scholarship fund, established by the friends of Michael P. LaGatella, is intended to promote a positive gay/lesbian identity and honor the memory of Michael P. LaGatella. It recognizes scholastic achievement and assists students in financing their education at Wayne State University.

Dr. Rae Lee Siporin GLBTA Endowed Scholarship (Rainbow Graduation Fund)

Your gift to the Dr. Rae Lee Siporin GLBTA Endowed Scholarship (Rainbow Graduation Fund) will support LGBTQIA+ students and their allies in financing their education at Wayne state. It also will foster encouragement of LGBTQIA+ students by engaging LGBTQIA+ alumni and reconnecting them with the campus community through activities like the Rainbow Graduation and building awareness of other opportunities for student support.

Warrior 360

Your gift will strengthen a comprehensive student support program and learning community that ensures underrepresented students successfully adjust and transition into college. The Warrior 360 program fosters a positive university engagement setting that offers pre-college workshop sessions, summer events and access to peer mentors to help provide the support they need to succeed.
