The WSU Nurse Anesthesia Program hopes you will consider honoring Phil's love, dedication, and mentorship by making a gift to support Phil's passion of professional development. With your support, we can help ensure that his legacy lives on through Wayne State University nurse anesthesia students who share the same passions as our beloved Phil.
Phil Mangahas helped so many students grow into excellent Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, and he emphasized the importance of professional development and giving. Phil’s mantra was “to give back” and his selfless commitment to others was proof. Over the years, Phil mentored many students and practicing CRNAs on medical mission trips to his homeland as he provided improved access to healthcare to the underserved and rural Philippine population. All who participated in these medical missions were not only provided with unique clinical experiences but were able to see firsthand how Phil conquered adversity on his journey to becoming a CRNA.
Over the years, Phil taught and mentored hundreds, if not thousands of nurse anesthesia students. He became a pillar of the WSU nurse anesthesia program, and he will never be forgotten.
Phil was a leader, mentor, educator, caring teacher, colleague, friend, husband, father, and grandfather.
Our intent is to establish a named fund in Phil’s honor by raising at least $10,000. Thank you for your generosity in making a difference for students at WSU Applebaum!
