As Ernie Harwell would say "It's looooooong gone!" The Wayne State University baseball program will host its Sixth Annual Home Run Derby Fundraiser on Tuesday, September 23 at Comerica Park.
The event will begin at 8:00 PM and is FREE to attend. Spectators can enter through Meijer Gate D starting at 7:00 PM. There will be Comerica Park concessions available throughout the evening.
Each team will have a designated hitter that will hit as many home runs as possible in 60 seconds. For every additional $25 pledged, each team will receive an additional two seconds hitting. Every second counts.
All proceeds will go directly to the Wayne State University Baseball team to assist with team priorities. In addition, the "team of players" that raises the most money and has the most home runs earn special team rewards.
All proceeds raised by the Wayne State University Baseball Alumni Team of Frank Jeney & Michael MacLean will support youth tuition for WSU Baseball Camps.
